Event description

Description

Ellie Walton (pictured) and Sam Wild's influential 2007 documentary, Chocolate City, examines how people living in the Arthur Capper housing project in southeast Washington, DC were forced from their homes as part of a massive nation-wide redevelopment program. The film focuses on the experiences of a particular group of women from the housing project who formed productive alliances outside the political process to cope with their circumstances. The film is a portrait of true civic engagement and a celebration of community resistance. A post-film Q&A will be led by one of the film's principals, Debra Frazier.

Note: This film contains graphic language and is recommended for mature audiences.
