Description

Please join us for an exciting discussion about the future of film and video, and the potential for an exciting new innovation center that bridges the worlds of film, technology and economic revitalization.

The Springfield Regional Development Corporation, Vermont PBS and the Center on Rural Innovation, are exploring the creation of a Film & Media Innovation Center in the former Park Street School in Springfield, Vermont. With the core assets of the 10 gigabit speed internet (the fastest in the country), a 500 seat proscenium arch theater and thousands of square feet of space for studios and technology, this facility is uniquely positioned to become a national center for creative digital arts. We’re convening a range of film and innovation experts at the Park Street School building to discuss the potential for this center, including potential partners, the type of programming and infrastructure that would drive creative development and next steps to advance the vision.

We’ll start with a tour of the Park Street facility, and then jump into a conversation about what the lab could look like in terms of programming, partnerships, equipment, capabilities, and more. What opportunities does the gigabit afford, as well as the theater and other spaces? What programming and capabilities could the lab contain? Who are the potential stakeholders, and how could we integrate the lab into the local, regional, and national film and video landscape? How can the lab participate in the leading edge of video and media innovation?
