MNFF Vermont Tour-Vergennes

Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival Vermont Tour
Double Feature
at the Vergennes Opera House

Once again, the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival (MNFF) is bringing two award-winning films to various theaters and town halls across Vermont and the Vergennes Opera House is pleased to be one of the chosen few.

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, the Vergennes Opera House will be screening two of the award-winning documentaries from the 2018 festival: All the Wild Horses at 2pm and Dateline-Saigon at 4:30pm.

Screening Time: 2pm
All the Wild Horses: Featured Documentary at the 4th Annual Middlebury New Filmmakers festival. Directed by Ivo Marloh. Run time: 89 minutes.

Synopsis: A dramatic and beautiful film that brilliantly documents the Mongol Derby horse race. The race itself is a recreation of Gheghis Khan's 13th-century horse-messenger trail. It is the longest and toughest horse race in the world and easily the most epic and dangerous. The race leadsd the horse and rider through 1,000 kilometers of Mongolian steppe, desert and mountain ranges. The riders navigate between stations that are 40 kilometers apart where there is a constant supply of fresh horses and strict veterinary care and checkpoints.

Tickets are $12 or purchase tickets for both films for the double feature prices of $20 online now.

Screening Time: 4:30pm
Dateline-Saigon: Winner-Best Documentary Feature at the 4th Annual Middlebury New Filmmakers festival. Directed by Thomas Herman. Run time: 95 minutes.

Synopsis: How does a nation slip into war? Dateline-Saigon compellingly profiles the controversial reporting of five Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists -The New York Times' David Halberstam, the Associated Press' Malcolm Browne, Peter Arnett, and legendary photojournalist Horst Faas, and UPI's Neil Sheehan -- during the early years of the Vietnam War as President John F. Kennedy is secretly committing US troops to what is initially dismissed by some as 'a nice little war in a land of tigers and elephants.’

"The best film about journalism in Vietnam I've ever seen."
Bob Schieffer, former anchor CBS Evening News, moderator of Face the Nation

Tickets are $12 or purchase tickets for both films for the double feature prices of $20 online now.

Cash bar provided by Bar Antidote, featuring local beer, wine and Woodchuck Cider's "Lil’ Dry", a semi-dry cider made with 100% Vermont apples from their local orchard partners
