About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

In this introductory figure drawing workshop, we’ll focus on the structure of the head and face — ideal for artists of all levels looking to build or refresh their foundational skills.

Working from a head model under directional lighting, participants will learn how to break down the head into simple shapes, understand proportion, and draw facial features with greater confidence and clarity. The instructor will guide students through step-by-step demos and provide tips for capturing eyes, noses, lips, ears, and facial expressions.

🧠 What You’ll Learn:

  • Basic head proportions (front and side view)
  • Simplifying facial features (eyes, nose, mouth, ears)
  • Placement and spacing of features
  • Intro to expressions and emotion
  • Shading and light using a model bust with directional lighting

✏️ What to Bring (REQUIRED):

  • A 9x12" or larger sketchpad
  • 2B, 4B, and 6B pencils
  • Eraser (kneaded or vinyl)
