Fighting Injustice through Service: Supporting our Black Community in SF
Event Information
About this Event
During these uncertain times, we've been incredibly inspired to hear stories of neighbors helping neighbors, and volunteers connecting to serve those most affected by Covid-19 in SF.
And now more than ever, we want to support our Black community who has been facing racial injustices amidst the pandemic.
Join Women4Good's founder Zanoon Nissar in conversation with Kanishka Cheng, co-founder of the mutual aid network TogetherSF and Brittney Doyle of WISE Health to discuss ways to support our Black Community and other underrepresented communities at this time. The event will be live on Thursday, June 25th from 5-5:45pm PT (30 minutes discussion + 15 minutes of Q&A.
TogetherSF is a group of volunteers who connect neighbors in need with other neighbors who can lend a hand. They have mobilized hundreds of volunteers in San Francisco to safely deliver groceries and prescriptions to the elderly, dinner to frontline healthcare workers - even 35,000 steaks in a single day! TogetherSF has always focused on partnering with nonprofits serving BIPOC communities, including promoting Black-owned businesses, collecting supplies for peaceful protests, and partnering with Black-run nonprofits.
WISE Health, founded in 2015, aims to work with organizations to design, implement, and evaluate solutions to major public health issues. The model for WISE Health was created as a result of the overwhelming and constant observations of the need for more innovative, tailored and relevant approaches to health and wellness for vulnerable populations living throughout the Bay Area. It is their belief that community and technology-driven innovation can improve health outcomes, create healthy communities, and inform health policies.
During our online event, we will explore the ways that we can all rise up and serve others in this urgent time.
