Event description

Description

There are currently over 30 million people worldwide that are enslaved...that is almost the population of Canada.
2 million are children who are sold globally in the sex trade
Human trafficking profits 150 BILLION dollars every year, and is the fastest growing industry in the world

This December I partnered up with a non-profit organization based out of oregon to help raise money and awareness to put an end to human trafficking and slavery.
...and now I need your help!

The organization is “Dressember” which was founded in 2009 by Blythe Hill. She challenged herself to wear a dress every single day in december (hence dressember) and her vision blossomed from there.
This December I also took on the challenge and have began to raise money for this organization...trust me, wearing a dress everyday in December...in Edmonton has not been fun or particularly warm.

On January 29th beginning at 5:30pm I am hosting a fundraiser at Joey in Mayfield Common, with the hopes of continuing to raise awareness and money for an amazing organization helping to fight against a terrible cause.

Oh and remember how I wore a dress every day in December? Well this event will be staffed by some of your favorite Joey male servers and bartenders who will be joining me that night and also wearing dresses...

Tickets are $30 and will include two drink tickets as well as appetizers.
There will be a silent auction which will feature many local businesses, this will close at 9pm.
If you or anyone you know would like to donate an item please let me know, this is a great way for us to raise more and also to advertise for local brands.
Guests are encouraged to stay as long as they want, eat drink and have a good time!

Mark it in your calendar, and help make a difference in the fight to abolish slavery.

“For many people, the idea of making an actual difference feels impossible and out of reach. When you donate to an organization, it is tough to know where your money goes, and that is why Dressember makes it a priority to ensure your gifts go toward life-changing efforts truly aiding the fight for human dignity.

When you donate to (or fundraise on behalf of) Dressember, you are a part of large, anti-trafficking grants that provide our partners with grants that move the needle forward toward actual change. Our community is passionate about saving lives, and so are we. This is why we believe it is important for our advocates and donors to know their efforts are being poured directly into the most impactful projects and programs in fight for freedom. “
