California Statewide Museum Collections Center
McClellan, CA August 15, 2017
The Statewide Museum Collections Center (SMCC) serves as the repository for California’s largest collection of artifacts and historic objects associated with the parks system throughout the state. The State Park Curators, Archivists, and Collections Managers care for and manage these artifacts including millions of archival documents, and over 400,000 historic photographic images. These State Archaeological Collections and the Research Facility provide researchers with resources for the study of Californians. The SMCC web site is Statewide Museum Collection .
There will be about a mile of walking on concrete. Those who wish to do research may do so by appointment prior to the tour. Transportation will be by casual carpool. It is about 1 ½ hour drive from CGS in Oakland. CGS cannot provide the transportation.
Linda is a fourth generation San Franciscan who has lived all but two years of her life in the Bay Area. Her interest in genealogy began as a hobby in 1998 but has since grown to a personal quest. Linda has been researching her husband’s ancestry for the past several years, documenting his family in the internment camps and in Japan. She is passionate about researching, documenting, teaching, and sharing the stores of Japanese Americans.
