Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) in Acute Care - April...
This is a two-day, intermediate course designed for clinicians who want to advance their knowledge and skills with FEES and who may be planning to implement FEES at their facility. This course will follow recommended training guidelines set out by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Course topics include anatomy and physiology viewed endoscopically, integrated assessment of esophageal disease, when to refer to ENT, VF function and voice, FEES in the pediatric population, and interpretation of FEES examinations using case study examples. There will also be a unique and exciting opportunity to conduct FEES, including set-up, mock scenarios, and scoping practice in the Stanford University Center for Immersive and Simulation-based Learning.
Course will be limited to 20 participants (not available for students/CFYs).
There will be an additional opportunity to practice passing the scope under the guidance of Stanford ENTs in a clinic setting (separate registration of $150: please contact Ann Kearney at AKearney@stanfordhealthcare.org).
