Event Details

The program will take place on Tuesday evening, June 20 at New London Hospital’s Helms Conference Room.  A light supper and networking will be available to attendees starting at 5:15 PM.  The program will start at 5:45 pm in the evening.

The program will be presented and led by Dr. Jon Burroughs.  Dr. Burroughs served on the medical staff at Memorial Hospital in North Conway as Emergency Department Director, Medical Staff President and as a member of the Hospital Board of Trustees.  He has a distinguished consulting career with the Greeley Company where he served as Senior Consultant and Director of Education Services and now heads the Burroughs Healthcare Consulting Network.  Dr. Burroughs speaks and consults with medical staff organizations nationally and we are fortunate that he resides in Glen, New Hampshire and that he has made himself available to us.

The goals and objectives for this evening of education and discussion are as follows:

“How to move Peer Review from Quality Assurance to Performance Improvement” (5:45 pm - 6:45 pm)

Goal: To provide education that will enable physicians and healthcare practitioners to utilize the peer review process as a key driver in quality improvement.

Objective: Understand why peer review is essential to moving the performance curve

Objective: Learn how to utilize peer review to drive improvement rather than to identify negative outliers

Optional Break 6:45 pm - 7:00 pm

“Peer Review Case Study- 9 year old male with new onset diabetic ketoacidosis” (7:00 pm - 8:30 pm)

Objective: Through an actual case study, learn how to utilize a peer review methodology to drive improvement initiatives throughout your healthcare organization for physicians and other healthcare practitioners, departments, the medical staff, the nursing staff, and the organization at large.

The Southern NH Area Health Education Center, accredited by the NH Medical Society, designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
