Event description

Description

Abrams Falls is a picturesque waterfall in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Although Abrams Falls is only 20 feet high, the large volume of water rushing over the sandstone cliff more than makes up for its lack of height. In fact, Abrams Falls is the most voluminous waterfall in the park. The trail follows Abrams creek most of the way and ends at the scenic falls.

The Hike: Abrams Falls hike is a 5 mile in & out hike with 675ft of elevation gain & rated as moderate to difficult. We will hike rain or shine so please make sure to pack a rain jacket or some type of rain poncho. It rains very often in the park. There are pit toilet located at the trailhead. Dogs are not allowed on this trail.

Getting There: Carpool options are available to the trailhead if needed.

From Knoxville: 1.5hr drive. In Google Maps type: Abrams Falls Trailhead. To get to the Abrams Falls trail, enter the one-way Cades Cove loop and proceed approximately five miles. Immediately after crossing Abrams Creek, make a right turn on Abrams Falls Rd (gravel road that crosses through a grassy field) and ends at a parking lot close to the trailhead.

From Nashville: 4hr drive

From Chatanooga or Ashland: 3hr drive
