Event description

Description

The Florida Gulf Coast University College Republicans, Florida Gulf Coast University College Democrats, and Eagles for Liberty cordially extend this invitation for you to join us on October 22 at 7:00 PM as we host David Azerrad of The Heritage Foundation, Ryan Collins of Center for American Progress, and Matthew Feeney of The Cato Institute to debate the political philosophies of conservatism, progressivism, and libertarianism respectively.

In a time where civil discourse and civility have been replaced by vicious partisanship and polarization, the political student groups on our campus are excited to host a debate that promotes civility and the discussion of differing ideas. We will not allow civility to be a relic of our childhood and are excited that Florida Gulf Coast University can serve as an institution that promotes civil discourse between differing political philosophies.

Politicians frequently refer to themselves as “conservative“, “progressive”, and “libertarian“. What does that even mean? Come out and hear the differing philosophies and arguments that drive policy legislation.
