Prakriti Dance presents "Festival of Villains"

About this Event

Festival of Villains examines villainy. What classifies a “villain”? What is their role in society? Do we have tolerance and acceptance in society for wrongdoers? How do villains fall from greatness to evil? Aren’t the ideas of “good” and “bad” in the eye of the beholder? How do stories of villains shape our thinking? These question and many more will be presented and discussed through unique performances and talks.

The festival features three choreographers/dancers who will each present performances based on three characters from Hindu mythology - Hidimba, Indra & Kubera. Live music will also support some of the performances. The festival will also have curated talks related to each character and dealing with race/gender, criminal/social justice, ethics in dance and how art and allied skills can be used in these regards to these important societal issues.
