Festival for the Trees
Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PST)
San Francisco, CA
Join EcoJews and friends this Tu B'shvat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees!
Experience a new festival for an environmental and mystical holiday. Celebrate the 10th anniversary of EcoJews of the Bay's first Tu B'shvat seder. Enjoy an evening of community, live music, traditional Tu B'shvat food and wine, light dinner and a no host bar. Engage with local and Jewish organizations working to protect the environment.
Guest Speaker Alon Tal (Ben Gurion University) will discuss his new book All the Trees of the Forest: Israel’s Woodlands from the Bible to the Present. Dr. Tal is one of Israel's foremost environmental policy experts and is currently a visiting professor at Stanford University.
Schmooze, swap* and scream for ice cream at the yerdle truck. Yerdle is a free peer-to-peer marketplace. *Bring something to give away: unwanted housewares, camping gear, books, etc. Items will be posted to yerdle for sharing, and you'll get a free scoop of kosher goats’ milk ice cream in return!
Live (not strictly) bluegrass music by Jeanie & Chuck: http://countryroundupsf.com/.
To mark our 10th anniversary, EcoJews is excited to launch a new greening initiative for Bay Area Jewish organizations. Find out more at the Festival for the Trees!
