Description

Festival 78 at CSUSM is an interactive outdoor art & music festival held annually on the CSUSM Mangrum Track and Field. The festival unites the students and local community through music, art and entertainment. This is THE road to Spring and you won't want to miss it!

We will not issue any refunds for Festival 78.


This event is for current CSUSM students. If you purchased a student ticket you MUST bring a valid CSUSM student ID. Students may bring one guest while guest tickets last (limit 200).

Guests must enter at the gate with a current CSUSM student. Guests must be 18 years of age or older.

Guests that do not have a federal or state ID will be asked to show another form of photo ID and will be given an "under 21" wristband.

Please note that all attendees must be inside the venue by 5:30 PM. There is no re-entry.

Check-In

Check-in will begin at 3:00 PM at the south side of Mangrum Track and Field, off of Craven Rd.

What to Know

  • No re-entry.

  • Gates close at 6:00 PM.

  • Students using a student ticket MUST present valid, CSUSM ID.

  • Guests MUST be accompanied into the venue with a student using a student ticket.

  • Clear/transparent bags, no larger than 15x18x6”.

  • NOTE: All bags will be checked by hired security upon entry.

  • No refillable or disposable beverage containers allowed

  • FREE WATER will be available inside the venue! Soft drinks and other beverages available for purchase.

  • ID will be checked upon entry to the festival and you will receive a wristband.

  • No outside food or beverages allowed.

  • Guests with medical diets should speak with an ASI staff member or email asicab@csusm.edu for assistance.

21+

  • Valid state/federal ID is required to enter the beer garden (license, passport, military ID, etc.).

  • Your ID will be check upon entry to the beer garden and when you order your drink.

  • The bar will be a cash bar. There will be NO ATM access, but credit cards will be accepted.

  • You'll want to remember this event! Please drink responsibly and avoid pre-gaming.

  • We want you to plan ahead and have a sober ride home! Please consider using Uber or Lyft!

  • If you need to leave your vehicle overnight, overnight parking is now available in ALL lots and levels of the parking structure with a valid CSUSM parking permit

  • Individuals under the influence or alcohol or drugs will not be permitted inside the event.

  • Last call will happen at 5:30 PM and the beer garden will close at 6:00 PM.

NORTHERN LIGHTS (MAIN STAGE)

THE RAINFOREST (COOL OFF ZONE)
Chill out under the shade, beat the heat, and have a CHIBEY time at our new cool off area! Stop by the REC campsite for a photo op!

GREAT BARRIER REEF (BEER GARDEN)
If you're 21+, swim over to the beer garden to purchase a cold brew or cocktail! Hang out with friends and play lawn games under the sun! Don't forget your ID and cash!

REDWOODS (ART + ENTERTAINMENT)
#INSTAGRAMWORTHY need we say more? Okay, okay, we will..
Lawn games (thanks to Campus REC), airbrush tattoos, Wellness Tent featuring Student Health and Counseling Services, crafts, games, and more!

TRAVELER'S HUT (FOOD)
Purchase food from one of the food vendors! Frida's Cocina, Baked Bear, Chick-fil-a, and Beachin' Boba!

How to get to the venue?

The entrance will be located on Craven Rd. We do encourage you to walk if possible or ride-share (Uber, Lyft, etc.).

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

It is suggested that attendees park in Lot B on campus. Vehicles parked on campus must display a valid CSUSM parking permit.

Can I leave and re-enter the festival?

There is absolutely no re-entry into the festival.

Do I have to bring an ID?

Yes, you'll need to present a VALID federal or state ID, and a VALID CSUSM ID for CSUSM students.

What if it rains?

This event is happening, rain or shine!

What to bring?

  • Sunscreen

  • Hats

  • Sunglasses

  • Earplugs

  • A cool outfit

  • You may bring a clear/transparent bag, but no bags larger than 15x18x6” will be permitted.

  • Comfortable shoes

What NOT to bring?

  • No chairs

  • No cameras with a removable lens

  • No lighters, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, marijuana, pipes, or electronic smoking devices will be allowed inside the venue

  • No beach balls, frisbees, or anything designed to be thrown

  • No pets (including ESAs)

  • No laser pointers

  • No skateboards, scooters, etc.

  • No knives or weapons of any sort

  • No banners or signs

  • No umbrellas

ADA Access and ADA Entry

Individuals with disabilities who would like to attend this event, please contact asi@csusm.edu regarding any special accommodation needs. It is requested that individuals requiring auxiliary aids, such as sign language interpreters and alternative format materials, notify the event sponsor at least seven working days in advance of the event. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations in an effective and timely manner.

- ADA entry is available through the west gate and can be accessed through parkings lots X, Y, & Z.

- There will be special seating for individuals with mobility impairments on the North side of the main stage.

- Space is provided on a first come, first served basis.

- Only one companion seat per mobility impaired guest will be permitted in this area.

- Additionally, a second ramp to the infield will be available on the Southwest side of the track.

- Two volunteers will be available to assist mobility impaired guests where requested.

- There will be one portable restroom that is ADA compliant in the venue.

Attendee Code of Conduct

Associated Students, Inc. and our contracted service partners are committed to creating and ensuring a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for our attendees. Our team members will proactively ensure the following:

  • Attendees refrain from smoking of any kind in the event and on campus

  • Alcoholic beverages are consumed in a responsible manner. Intervention with an impaired, intoxicated, or underage guest is handled in a prompt and safe manner

  • Guests refrain from fighting, throwing objects or attempting to access the stage or restricted areas without appropriate credentials

  • Attendees refrain from using offensive language or obscene gestures

  • Attendees follow requests made with regard to operations and follow emergency response procedures

Our team members have been trained to intervene where necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met. Attendees are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest team member or call 760-750-4567. Attendees who choose not to comply with the Attendee Code of Conduct will be subject to ejection without refund and may be in violation of city or state ordinances resulting in possible arrest and prosecution.
