Description

Check in starts at 8:00 AM. If you are already GI-BMP certified you can check in at 9 AM. If you are pre-registered and we have your name you don't need a ticket. Bring your driver's license or equivalent.

This training is for anyone that wants to apply fertilizers. It is required for anyone that wants to apply fertilizers commercially. This training is focused on reducing non-point source pollution resulting from fertilization or pesticide application.

This class provides the training and testing necessary to obtain the GI-BMP certificate. GI-BMP certification will be awarded to those passing the exam (75% or better score).

The GI-BMP certificate is then used to obtain the Limited Fertilizer License by submitting an application and fee ($25) to the State of Florida.

If you are already GI-BMP certified and are attending class only for CEUs you can arrive at 9 AM and leave at approximately 3:45 PM.

This course can also be taken online. We strongly recommend that you download and read the manual prior to taking the online course or attending the classroom session.

NOTE: There are no CEUs given with the online course.

Refunds are given if you notify us a day in advance that you have to cancel.

Please bring your own coffee, etc as we can't provide these. Lunch is on your own.

This class is offered at no cost to: Pinellas County Government Employees, Pinellas County School Board Employees, and Pinellas County Master Gardener Volunteers. Identification must be provided on the day of class to attend this class for free.

A maximum of 4 CEUs can be earned by attending this class. Attendees will earn 2 CORE and may select their 2 additional CEUs from: Pvt. App. Ag., Ornamental & Turf (O&T), Limited Lawn & Ornamental (LL&O), Limited Commercial Landscape Maintenance (LCLM), or Commercial Lawn & Ornamental (Comm. L&O).

Best Management Practices for healthy lawns and landscapes. Includes mowing, pruning, fertilization & irrigation effects on plant health and ability to tolerate pest pressures.

12:45 – 1:35 Irrigation BMPs

Irrigation Best Management Practices to reduce disease & insect damage. Irrigation BMPs include: irrigation requirements, design, installation, monitoring, troubleshooting and proper management of irrigation.

Fertilizer sources: comparisons and responses.

2:35 – 2:45 Break

Minimum class size required is 10. You will be notified at least a day in advance in case of cancellation.

Before continuing, we would like to make you aware of our reservation policies. Cancellations - If your class is canceled for any reason you will be notified no less than 24 hours prior to class start. We will provide a full refund for cancellations made by Pinellas County Extension. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process. Payment - We require full payment at time of reservation so be prepared with a credit card to complete this transaction. Refunds - Refunds will be made in the event of a class cancellation or if the registrant requests a refund 24 hours prior to the class time. Reservations - You must be 18 to make a reservation. If you are under 18 and want to attend a class you must register and attend with a parent or guardian.
