Fermented Veggies for Beginners
Sun, April 23, 2017, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT
Looking for a tasty and inexpensive way to get more probiotics in your diet? Learn the basics of fermenting vegetables in this hands-on workshop at the Columbia Homestead Alliance! We will be making sauerkraut and carrot ginger pickles, and you’ll be taking a pint of each with you to ferment at home. We’ll also talk about the basic science of fermentation, the benefits of fermented foods, and the safety of vegetable fermentation. After the class, you’ll have the option of joining a private Facebook group where you can compare notes with your classmates and ask for advice as your ferments progress.
Vegetables, pint jars, and printed instructions are included in the cost of the class. Space is limited, so reserve your spot soon!
Columbia Homestead Alliance is located at 2329 Lee Street (the large lot on the corner of Lee and Meadow). Enter through the entrance on the back deck.
