Event description

"Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces."

Welcome to FEMME, a merging of intimate and inclusive feminist story-telling and performance art that gives voice to topics that are otherwise shunned by society.

Raw, provocative, vulnerable, cathartic and heartfelt; FEMME is giving a real face and voice to the topics that stigma silences.

FEMME is a free event that welcomes everyone to attend.

FEMME is merging performance and community through story telling.

FEMME is space.
FEMME is performance.
FEMME is storytelling.
FEMME is revealing and unravelling ourselves.
FEMME is the weaving of our shared experiences.
FEMME is our collective conscious that holds us together

The content of FEMME engages with issues connected to identity and lived experiences. Much of it is emotionally and intellectually challenging to engage with. Our aim is to make this a space where we can engage bravely, empathetically and thoughtfully with what can at times be difficult content. We announce content warnings at the beginning of the show, and then individually before each performer. We also identity and establish safe show staff and areas people can utilise if they have questions or need to step out of the space for any reason.

FEMME acknowledges the many ways people can identify as non-binary, fluid, femme or female. We reject the socially constructed binary of gender and welcome everyone regardless of their position on the many spectrums of identity.

FEMME aims to be as inclusive and accessible to as many people as possible.

This is a free event. Donations are appreciated but not neccessary. Printed tickets are not required to be presented.

Seating is provided and is unallocated - we encourage you to sit where ever you feel most comfortable.

All FEMME venues are wheel chair accessible without requiring special arrangement. We only permit general admission entry to venues via wide doorways that are level or ramped. We are mindful of providing wide thoroughfares within the space and accessible facilities.

Content warnings are communicated with the audience at the beginning of the show as well as before each individual presenter. Please engage with the content as you feel comfortable - especially if that means choosing to not engage.

We provide multiple safe spaces within every FEMME event. We identify these at the beginning of each event as spaces you can utilise if you need to step out of a performances for any reason. These spaces are private for audience members requiring them and are both inside and outside the venue.

We are always trying to do better. If you have access requirements or suggestions please email Lola at

FEMME is hosted on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar.

We acknowledge the Whadjuk people of the Nyoongar nation of the lands on which our events are hosted and pay our respects to their elders past, present and future.

Further, we acknowledge First Nation People as the Traditional Custodians of this continent, whose cultures are among the oldest living cultures in human history and acknowledge their strength, resilience and continuing culture and continued connection to land, waters and community.

We acknowledge their continued sovereignty. Australia was not settled peacefully, it was invaded, occupied and colonised. Sovereignty has never been ceded or extinguished.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
