If you’re a Developer, Designer or Product Manager looking for others to join you in your next side project or startup, come!

About this Event

Event Goals

If you’re a Developer, Designer or Product Manager excited about building the future of technology, this is the event for you.

“Startups operate on the principle that you need to work together to get things done, yet stay small enough so that you actually can. At the other extreme, one person cannot build an industry.”

Come out to the event if any of these event goals leave you feeling optimistic and eager to get to work:

  • Goal #1: Shine light on women tech founders and share tactical advice for the next wave of female entrepreneurs
  • Goal #2: Offer the opportunity to practice your startup pitch and get the support you need from the community
  • Goal #3: Help you find a cofounder or founding team!

Ps. If the following event goals don’t leave you feeling optimistic and eager to get to work, then you can always dip your toe in first by joining the online community.

Event Schedule

  • 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm: Registration and Refreshments
  • 6:30 pm - 6:45 pm: Keynote - Eva Wong, Co-Founder of Borrowell
  • 6:45 pm - 7:00 pm: Startup Idea Pitches (Application details below)
  • 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm: Curated Networking & General Networking

About our Keynote Speaker

Eva Wong

Co-Founder & COO, Borrowell

Eva is Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Borrowell, a fintech company that helps Canadians make great decisions about credit. Through its free credit score monitoring, AI-powered Credit Coach and recommendation engine, Borrowell empowers consumers to improve their financial well-being.

As a female co-founder in the fintech space, Eva encourages more women to pursue a career in tech. Borrowell is also diligently working towards building a diverse, gender-balanced company.

On top of being a tech founder and an admired speaker, Eva has been recognized for a number of impressive awards. Eva was named to the 2018 Women in FinTech Powerlist as one of their Standout 35 and was a finalist for "Fintech Woman of the Year" at LendIt, the world’s biggest show in lending & fintech. Eva was named one of 20 Canadian tech start-up founders to follow by Twitter Canada, was featured as one of "9 Canadian Women Changing The Game" by Elle Canada and on Flare's #HowIMadeIt list.

At the event, Eva will share principles and tangible advice that other aspiring founders can take away and apply to their own journeys! Have any questions or topics you've love for Eva to cover? Submit them here: http://bit.ly/FCF-EVA

IMPORTANT

You don't have to be a woman to join us. For every 20 start-up founders in the technology sector, less than 3 are women. We’re working with everyone in the tech community to change that.

Organized Networking

We really want to help make this event as productive as possible. If you are highly interested in (a) finding a cofounder for your startup idea , (b) contributing to another woman's startup idea or (c) looking for founding members of your team, please select the General Admission + Organized Networking Ticket type. We'll collect a few more details from you and send you a short list of names the day of the event.

If you don't sign up for the organized networking, you're more than welcome to work the room and meet people as you see fit!

Startup Pitches

As part of the event, we're offering the opportunity to share your startup idea and ask for support from the community.

Your pitch will be 2 minutes. There will be a 1 minute Q&A period following your pitch. There are only 3 spots available. You will be notified 2 weeks prior to the event, if you've been selected.

Apply here if you meet the following criteria:

  • Women-founded or co-founded
  • Technology driven or enabled solution

We will be prioritizing based on alignment to industries that attendees select and general themes that align with our keynote - we encourage everyone to apply! If you don't have a chance to pitch to the crowd, you certainly will during the 1:1 networking session.

About Female CoFounder

Female CoFounder is a community that wants to help increase the number of women-led technology startups. We help you find female cofounders so that you can build the future of technology, together.

Less than 15% of tech startups have female founders in Canada. We believe in shining a spotlight on women that have founded technology startups and in helping the next female founders take the leap. To do this we bring together developers, product managers, and designers who are motivated to work on side-projects or startups.

Women are under-represented in technology today - but together, we will change that! Join our community at www.femalecofounder.com
