Event description

Description

FEMA Region III is hosting a series of webinars for hazard mitigation planners and other partners interested in reducing risk in their communities. These “Coffee Breaks” are hour-long sessions hosted every other month to provide mitigation best practices and highlight the work happening at federal, regional, state, and community levels to reduce risk across the region.

The Coffee Breaks are open to everyone involved in hazard mitigation, resiliency, or risk reduction planning in the public and private sector. This includes community planners, emergency managers, floodplain managers, GIS technicians, government officials, contractors, and anyone involved in the development and implementation of hazard mitigation and risk reduction strategies.

Developing FEMA Mitigation Planning Grants - March 29, 2018

Often, vaguely worded scopes leave communities, contractors, state partners, and FEMA unclear as to what is being updated and how to update it. This webinar will focus on aligning expectations and outcomes for plan updates to help simplify the process.

Developing Natural Hazard Mitigation Strategies - January 10, 2017

The heart of any natural hazards mitigation plan is the mitigation strategy - it’s the blueprint for reducing your potential losses identified in the risk assessment. This webinar will explore how to connect your risk and capability assessments with your mitigation strategy, engage specific audiences in developing the strategy, and the process to identify and prioritize specific actions to reduce risk.
