Event description

Description

FEMA Region III is hosting a series of webinars for hazard mitigation planners and other partners interested in reducing risk in their communities. These “Coffee Breaks” are hour-long sessions hosted every other month to provide mitigation best practices and highlight the work happening at federal, regional, state, and community levels to reduce risk across the region.

The Coffee Breaks are open to everyone involved in hazard mitigation, resiliency, or risk reduction planning in the public and private sector. This includes community planners, emergency managers, floodplain managers, GIS technicians, government officials, contractors, and anyone involved in the development and implementation of hazard mitigation and risk reduction strategies.

Incorporating Historic and Cultural Resources in Your Hazard Mitigation Plan - January 30, 2019

Most communities in Region III have identified historic and cultural resources that should be considered when defining risk. In your community, how are these resources being incorporated into your local Hazard Mitigation Plan? Are you able to use this integration successfully to enhance mitigation opportunities and leverage funding? This Coffee Break will explore what State Historic Preservation Offices can bring to the planning team and highlight some examples from across the Region.
