About this Event

FELL RUNNER

At once understated and astonishing, Fell Runner's blend of a post-punk and improvisation is declarative of a unique voice on the L.A. rock scene. The four-piece take guitar rock and infuse it with literary sensibility, vibrant vocal harmonies, and expressive polyrhythms, influenced by their studies of West African music with Ghanaian drum master, Alfred Ledzekpo. Fell Runner executes these embellishments without ever breaking the uninhibited drive that serves as the band's foundation, keeping their sound edged and urgent.

Now, on the eve of releasing their second album ‘Talking,’ Fell Runner exemplify maturation and expansiveness. Branching out from their initial influences, the band has crafted masterful compositions revolving around themes of frustrated communication, failed language, and dealing with one's own shortcomings. Tracked live in Tim’s bedroom, the album captures the spontaneity and improvisation of their live show.

POSITIONER

Positioner is the new project of composer, guitarist and singer George Pritzker. Building upon his previous work in the groups Japandi and Weatherbox, Pritzker blends his keen sense of melody with the concise polyrhythms of long-time collaborator Griffin Kisner on drums. Positioner's lineup is rounded out by fellow Japandi alum Jeff Striker on bass, and multi-instrumentalist/composer Evan Backer on synthesizers. The group is crafting it's debut release in summer 2019.

BAND ARGUMENT

Band Argument is neither here nor there, taking components of polarizing aesthetics and palettes and smashing them together to produce unexpected results. With the use of triggers, sample pads and MIDI pickups, Band Argument is able to usher in a new type of psychedelic music fit for a generation already accustomed to virtual reality and self-driving cars. Stuttering didgeridoos, augmented train whistles, shattering glass SFX and synthetic slap bass are just a few of the elements Band Argument presents through their maximalist approach to tonality. However, despite their avidity for tech, Band Argument still employ elements of raw instrumentation and presentation in their songs, influenced by their San Diego DIY upbringing.

FOOT CONTROLLERS

Foot Controllers here, contacting you from one of the infinite fluctuating plains of the multi-verse to inform you we have grown weaker by our lack of communication in recent time. We were nearly "tapped" out during the soundcheck but as your personal saviors we demand that the portal be open once again as soon as possible. We must regain our lost conditioned power, and then some.

Over the course of days and weeks, a sermon has been painstakingly prepared for this ceremony; it will be discarded forthwith. Furman demands spontaneity, and Furman provides the electrical current that sustains amplification of our double-neck 8-string lap steel guitar and Gibson bass guitar. And the drummer can't remember the songs anyways.

We remind you that Furman chose YOU. There is no choice but to provide us with sufficient amounts of smooth sinusoidal A.C. wave forms until we see fit. REJOICE! Salvation is yours! May we remind you that the more power we obtain, the more Furman will bless thee with sub-conscious punk music synergy and the sheer control of feet.

May your power be pure.
