Felix "Phil" Romain College Tour

LINCOLN | CHEYNEY | DREXEL | BINGHAMTON
CORNELL | BUFFALO | RIT | SYRACUSE

What are your plans during (the New York City Department of Education) spring break. If you're thinking about college, then this might be a great time to explore a few. The Felix Romain College Tour visits eight (8) schools in the Philadelphia and Upstate New York regions over a four day period.

The cost to attend is $400, of which $50 is required to reserve a seat. The fee covers travel, lodging, continental breakfasts, and lunch on all campuses on the tour. The student is responsible for all outside expenses, including dinners on the days of the tour. At each campus, students will visit classrooms, dining halls, and dorms, after which they will meet with admissions officers who discuss the collegiate experience and explain the application process.

This tour is open to male and female high school students in the New York City area. Whether you're freshmen (9th grade) or senior (12th grade), this tour can be an illuminating experience. To reserve your seat, complete the application above, which includes a $50.00 non-refundable deposit. Final payment may be made by cash, check, money order, or credit card no later than Sunday, April 2, 2017. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact the event organizer Earl R. Fleary (Mu Phi, 1996).

 About Phil Romain

Phil RomainThe College Bus Tour is named after its founder, the late Felix Philip Romaine, a 1981 initiate of Kappa Alpha Psi and an officer of the Brooklyn-Long Island (NY) Alumni chapter. He was initiated at Delta Beta (Syracuse University), where he earned a bachelor of science in management and communications. He continued his studies at Cornell University, where he earn a certificate of contract administration. At the time of his untimely death, he served as the human resources director for the home care division of the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation.

Romain credits much of his early success to mentors who exposed him to college life and sparked his interest in pursuing an education beyond New York City's five boroughs. In 2015, he conceived the idea of a college bus tour that gives opportunities to local high school students the same way they were afforded to him. He died in January 2016 and was not able to participate in the inaugural event that took place a few months later. In March 2016, the tour was renamed in Romain's honor, commemorating his legacy of hope for the next generation.
