FEF Presents: Questlove x Kimbal Musk Discussion on Food and Culture
Event Information
About this Event
Join Questlove, Kimbal Musk, and moderator Ben Greenman on Thursday, December 5th from 7:30 - 9:30 PM for a conversation on how to use food to connect people and create change while supporting the future of food education. Questlove will be signing cookbooks after the conversation.
All of the proceeds will support the Food Education Fund, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that prepares and empowers public high school students through hands-on programming like our culinary job training and internship program, our student-run cafe and restaurant, and our career exploration curriculums. Join us before the discussion at School Grounds Cafe, just before the school on the right, as our students launch their very own food business concept!
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Questlove is best known for his achievements in the music world, but his interest in food runs a close second. He has hosted a series of renowned Food Salons and conversations with some of America’s most prominent chefs. Now he is turning his hand to creating a cookbook. Questlove is also a co-founder of The Roots, D.J., producer, best-selling author, culinary entrepreneur, and a proud member of the Food Education Fund board of directors.
Kimbal Musk is a chef, restaurateur, and philanthropist. His personal mission is to pursue an America where everyone has access to real food. Kimbal has been named a Global Social Entrepreneur by the World Economic Forum. He is the Co-Founder and Chairman of three real food companies that are rapidly scaling across the US.
Ben Greenman is a novelist and magazine journalist who has written fiction and non-fiction books, as well as many collaborations with Questlove and others.
ABOUT THE DISCUSSION
The conversation will center around Questlove’s recently launched book, “Mixtape Potluck,” in which he imagines the ultimate potluck dinner party, inviting more than 50 chefs, thought leaders, entertainers, musicians and artists to bring along their favorite recipes. The result is not only an accessible, entertaining cookbook, but also a collection of Questlove’s diverting musical commentaries and the creative relationship between music and food.
The package price of $50 includes one ticket to the event as well as a copy of “Mixtape Potluck”. Questlove will be signing copies after the Q&A. There is also a general admission only option for $35. Books will be available night of as well.
