Tell your stories.
You have a story in you. And you want to tell it. You want to start your Memoir. In this workshop, we'll talk about the "so what" factor that takes any story, memory, or moment and connects it with the universal. We all have stories to tell, snapshots in time that changed us, or life lessons to recount. Many of us are already skilled at writing these moments and some are still just venturing forth. In either case, this class will give writers a guide to the shape and form of personal memoir. We will take your writing to the next level, in a way that allows readers to make meaning of the memories and relate them to the human predicament. Classes will focus on weekly lessons ~ getting started, mining memories, structure, theme and coherence. You'll share your memoir in a safe, structured environment of other writers who are working hard toward telling their stories too. Feet to the Fire Writers' Workshops brings out the writer in you. We are playful and wise and we'll carefully guide you each step of the way!
The group will be limited to the first 8 people to register so jump on in!
The cost for this six-week workshop is $225.
We will meet on the following 6 Tuesday evenings from 7-9 p.m. :
January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
The idea for Feet to the Fire Writers' Workshops was born out of a deep need for connection and inspiration through writing. In this day and age of texts and Facebook, Feet to the Fire provides writers with good, old-fashioned face-to-face interactions. By committing to this group, we hold one another’s “feet to the fire,” offering support, commitment, inspiration and motivation to each other, week in and week out.
Each week, you’ll need a:
Notebook you love
Willingness to listen
Willingness to provide honest feedback
Desire to grow as a writer
Good sense of humor
Beginning Memoir includes a thorough study of the genre, including: What is Memoir? Where Do I Begin? Structure and Form, Choosing The Right Moments, Revision and Mechanics, Weaving the Moments Together
