Event description

Description

The band, feeney/winthrop, consists of Larry Winthrop, Matt Feeney, Pat Winthrop, Gerry Garcia, Luke Holton, and Ellen Hawley McWhirter. The group traces its roots back to the early 1980's when Larry, Matt, and Ellen performed as a folk trio called "Turning The Tide." After Ellen moved from Arizona in the early 1990's, Larry and Matt formed feeney/winthrop as a folk duo. Pat joined the group in the late 1990's. Gerry Garcia, who played bass in a band with Matt at the University of Notre Dame in the 1970's, has played with feeney/winthrop for over twenty years. Luke Holton joined the group in 2012, playing keyboards and producing feeney/winthrop CDs at his Snoring Dog Recording Studio. Ellen joined feeney/winthrop in 2019, completing a musical circle and starting a new musical adventure. The 2020 concert will feature a special guest, Jim Speier, who played with Gerry and Matt at Notre Dame with "Jim Speier & Company."

For over thirty years, St. Joseph the Worker (SJW) has been assisting homeless, low-income, and other
disadvantaged individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient through quality employment. Last fiscal year, SJW helped 3,681 individuals secure quality, full-time employment and helped to invest $98 million in annual wages back into Maricopa County's economy. Many more individuals receive job-readiness resources and services such as one-on-one coaching, resume writing, personal wardrobe styling, transportation assistance, as well as encouragement and support to pursue a self-sufficient lifestyle. Passionate volunteers dedicated thousands of hours of direct service to SJW's employment program.

During the past twelve years, these concerts have raised over $450,000 for SJW's good work. Because SJW does
not accept government funding, every contribution goes a long way to support SJW's mission of "transforming lives through employment."

There is no charge for the concert, but we ask that you consider a donation of $15 per ticket. Of course, other donations are gratefully accepted. Click the green "Register" button for tickets and/or to submit your donation.
