Karuna Training

How can we train in working with our emotions as opposed to struggling against them? Sometimes, no matter how much meditation we have done, we may still be still haunted by familiar, persistent, difficult emotions. We may experience emotions such as fear, anger, or lethargy as obstacles—and for good reason. In Karuna Training, we learn powerful practices to relate directly with such emotions to uncover the tremendous wisdom at their essence.

Karuna is the Sanskrit word meaning compassion. Drawn from the Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhist view that difficult emotions are gateways to intelligence and enlightenment, this course of training reveals the potency of leading our lives with an open heart. Karuna Training takes us to the heart of trusting what we feel and to exploring those energies for wisdom.

This workshop will introduce Compassionate Exchange, one of the foundational practices in Karuna Training. We will explore how we can show up with bravery and the strength of an open heart in the face difficult and challenging emotions.

The evening will include talks, discussion, and exercises.

This stand-alone class has no prerequisites, and all are welcome.
