Event description

Description

Deep in the bowels of a New York Public Library lies a dragon: the monstrous coal furnace that Sharon’s father, the live-in custodian, must feed every night. For this special program The Library literally welcomes home the acclaimed actress and writer of theater, film, and television, Sharon Washington. Join us for a preview of Washington’s new play Feeding the Dragon. A moving examination of family secrets, forgiveness, and the power of language, Feeding the Dragon explores Sharon’s life growing up in the library and the fire she never allowed to fade. Join Washington in a conversation about life in the Library, illustrated by archival artifacts from The New York Public Library.

(If you need assistance with online reservations, please visit the welcome desk at the Library for the Performing Arts' Lincoln Center Plaza entrance, where volunteers will make a reservation for you, even if you do not use email. For free events, The Library generally overbooks to ensure a full house. All registered seats are released 15 minutes before start time, so we recommend that you arrive early.)
