Description

Feds Fest 2019 Invites You to our Boots and Bling - A Wild West Fest!!

As Edina Federated Women's Club celebrates our 50th anniversary we encourage you to help us continue our long tradition of giving back to the local community.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Southside Family Nurturing Center and Edina Give and Go two very worthy and important organizations.

Since 1974, Southside Family Nurturing Center has offered services to children and families in the heart of the Phillips neighborhood. The agency was one of the first private, nonprofit agencies to implement holistic family interventions in Minnesota, utilizing early childhood education and family support with home visiting services. Their Therapeutic Early Childhood Education program aids children, ages 15 months to five years of age, in developing social and emotional skills and in preparing them academically for kindergarten. Over 85% of the children enrolled are developmentally delayed in some way and are helped by receiving professional speech, music, occupational, and play therapy. Southside’s Home Based Family Support program offers home visiting services to all families whose children are enrolled in the center. The program works to prevent abuse and neglect at the earliest stage possible by promoting nurturing parenting, skill development, individualized goal planning, and access to community support services related to education, housing, healthcare, and legal issues.

Edina Give and Go is a local non-profit focused on removing financial barriers to participation in enrichment opportunities for students in Edina Public Schools who are economically disadvantaged. With support from Edina Give and Go, students are able to get involved in activities such as summer classes, basketball, driver's education, and band or orchestra, to name just a few. There are roughly 750 Edina Public Schools students who meet Give and Go's income qualifications for support (living in households earning 200% or below the poverty line or $50,200 annually for a family of four). Last year, Edina Give and Go supported 250 students to participate in (at least) one academic, arts or athletic opportunity. This is 67% growth in students over the past two years. The growing number of requests highlights the need for support and the interest of students to go get involved. Edina Give and Go wants to ensure that every student in Edina Public Schools, no matter their socioeconomic status, gets engaged in academic, arts and athletic opportunities that exist in our community.

Trailer Trash

Trailer Trash with Janie Miller

Now in their twenty-fifth year as a band, Trailer Trash has turned generations of music lovers on to its brand of American roots, country, swing and rockabilly. Their contagious enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment onstage have earned Trailer Trash the reputation of being Minnesota’s premier honky-tonk band.

A fixture on the Twin Cities music scene, Trailer Trash have performed at Jesse Ventura’s Inaugural Ball at the Target Center and played the opening of the new Guthrie Theater. The band has provided the soundtrack to hundreds of Twin Cities courtships and wedding receptions. Their popular annual "Trashy Little Xmas Show" is considered a seasonal staple, selling out around the state. They are also know for giving back to the community, frequently lending their talents to supporting a variety of Twin Cities non-profits. Somewhere in all that time, the group racked up seven Minnesota Music Awards, appeared in two movies, (Herman USA and Dill Scallion) and put out six albums.

A legendary vocalist in her own right, Janie Miller has been stunning Twin Cities audiences for years with her spot-on tribute to the late, great Patsy Cline.

Please join us in this fun filled evening while also supporting two very worthy organizations!!
