Topic: Federal SBIR/STTR Funding for Small Business R&D (Faculty event)

The federal SBIR/STTR programs annually provide $2.5 billion in funding to small businesses that have innovations and technologies with commercial potential. Leon Wolf, experienced grant writer and SBIR/STTR specialist, will provide an informational presentation on the SBIR/STTR program with special emphasis on needs of academic researchers and the commercialization of university research.

In addition to SBIR/STTR Fundamentals, topics include:

  • Focus and details on STTR

  • How SBIR/STTR differs from academic research proposals

  • Subawards, spinouts, conflicts of interest and IP considerations for SBIR/STTR

  • What every academic research startup needs to do before starting a proposal
