A highly participatory training, where we develop strategic competencies for transforming dynamics of power and privilege in interpersonal exchanges. Traveling the landscape beyond business as usual, we learn to mitigate risk; integrate conflict; interrupt harmful patterns; foster dignity; embody cultural humility; catalyze the opportunities of shame, rage and fear; and generate win-win solutions. WHO: Organizational/movement leaders, activists, therapists, coaches, consultants, trainers, educators, mediators, clergy and others immersed in conversations about anti-oppression, diversity, equity and inclusion; hungry for a dynamically engaged learning environment and practice community; committed to transforming contentious dynamics into catalysts for building resilient multi-cultural alliances.

PREREQUISITES: Experience in two or more of the following: Somatic trauma healing; Restorative Justice; popular education; diversity, equity and inclusion, and/or anti-oppression work; or other Fierce Allies work.

WHERE: Downtown Berkeley, CA. The address will be provided upon your successful enrollment. The location is within walking distance of the Downtown Berkeley BART.

WHEN: February 16-19, 2017. The exact hours are still TBD, and it is expected to run approximately 9-6 each day. NOTE: This Intensive will be offered again. The dates are TBD. Sign up here to stay informed about this and other Fierce Allies trainings.

COST: $1,899. Early Bird Discounts, Ally Package Discounts and Solidarity Fund scholarship options available (click here for more info). An Initial Deposit of $250, plus a $14.74 non-refundable processing fee, is required before your Enrollment Form will be accepted for review.


The Fierce Allies Solidarity Fund (Solidarity Fund) is our way of pooling and distributing the collective financial wealth of our learning community. We do this by receiving contributions from those with greater access to financial resources and redistributing them through a limited number of partial scholarships.

There will be an opportunity to make a contribution to the Solidarity Fund on the Enrollment Form.

There will be an opportunity to apply for support from the Solidarity Fund on the Enrollment Form. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Solidarity Fund Awards will be announced via email on Friday, January 20, 2017.

Your Application is complete when your Enrollment Form and Initial Deposit are received. Once your complete application has been reviewed and approved (by Friday, January 20, 2017) you will be informed of your acceptance, and invoiced for the payment balance with options to pay by eCheck or electronically by direct deposit, Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

How will this Intensive advance my growth as an ally and social justice catalyst?

I have already taken several diversity trainings, how is this one different?

Most anti-oppression, diversity, equity and inclusion approaches offer essential analysis and deconstruction of systemic “isms,” with the intention of preventing their further perpetuation. Fierce Allies stands in solidarity with and on the shoulders of these efforts -- our work would not be possible without their important contributions. The Fierce Allies Training Program develops skills and competence for advanced practitioners from a wide variety of fields, who want to further develop their capacity for generating safety, trust, courage, presence, and impact when emotions are live and contentious issues are on the table. Can I get CEU’s?

Not at this time. And if that feels important to you, let us know and we can work to incorporate that into future trainings.

Can I come to part of the Intensive?

No. Full participation is required. If you cannot attend all four days, in their entirety, please sign up for a later Intensive.

Is this Intensive accessible to people with disabilities?

We are committed to making our work accessible to all. An Accessibility Audit of the venue and are working closely with the proprietor regarding changes they can make that will increase access. What are my transportation/parking options getting to the event?

The Intensive is happening in Downtown Berkeley BART with excellent Bus access. Parking could be tricky. Public transportation is recommended.

The name on the registration ticket does not match the attendee. Is that Ok?

No. Please make sure the name on the registration matches the name on the Enrollment Form and the person attending the Intensive.
