Join facilitators Lindsey T.H. Jackson and Sadiqua Iman for Barefoot Collective's February Healing Movement Workshop.

This Black-focused healing session will use the medium of movement to attend to and release generational wounds that have taken space in our bodies.

This class is FREE and open to all experience levels.

Although this workshop will focus on Black-healing, all are welcome as racism leaves its mark on all of us.

When: Saturday, February 4, 2023, 1:00-2:30pm

Where: Two in-person locations available, plus a virtual option via Zoom.

Live instruction in Seattle, Exit Space NOD Theater, 1621 12th Ave Seattle, WA 98122

Livestream in Tacoma, University Y Student Center, 1710 Market St, Tacoma, WA 98402

What:

This workshop will presented in two parts and provide different approaches to healing movement. You will be invited to explore in whatever way feels a safe and accessible to you.

Session One: Led by contemporary dancer, spoken word artist and CEO Lindsey T.H. Jackson, this session will ask us to confront these often unnamed and secret traumas that live rent-free in our bodies and hold us back from experiencing somatic liberation and joy, which is our birthright.

Session Two: Healing artist, Sadiqua Iman will lead a movement mediation that will ground participants in their own peace and release various tensions locked in the body due to grief. This is a healing dance that needs no previous experience of skill set, simply the willingness to say yes to the process.

Healing Movement is a year-long class series presented by Barefoot Collective in partnership with Mycelial Movement Network (an emerging network of queer, trans and BIPOC artists, activists and facilitators who are committed to facilitating restorative movement & relational practices within their communities in the Tacoma & Seattle areas).

This class series is generously supported by Tacoma Creates and ArtsWA.
