About this Event

Course description: This two-hour workshop will help individuals understand the deeper reasons why women ask for formula supplementation during the first 100 hours.

Rationale: Despite vigorous efforts, formula supplementation and over-feeding of normal healthy breastfeeding newborns continues to be a challenge. These simple conversations has been shown to reduce requests for formula, increase women’s understanding and acceptance of her baby’s unique patterns and increase long-term breastfeeding rates.

Learning Objectives:

Review their experience with sharing secrets with families.

Revisit their understanding of the stress response and how this knowledge can help with difficult conversations.

Identify changes in hospital practice that have helped mothers achieve 90-minute sleep cycles.

Reimagine the first 100 hours.
