Description

Winter is wonderful at QBG! Bring the whole family and experience winter’s splendor with indoor garden activities throughout February School Break, from Tuesday, February 19 through Friday, February 22. Recommended for 4 to 10-year-olds, but all are welcome to attend.

Ticket includes one child. Please purchase separate tickets for multiple children. These are not drop-off programs; each child must be accompanied by one adult. Registration required; drop-ins are welcome upon availability.

Purchase tickets to one, two, three, or all four of these activities!

George Washington Carver Workshop - Tuesday, February 19, 1 to 2:30pm - $10 per child
Called the “Wizard of Tuskegee,” Dr. George Washington Carver made significant contributions in the field of botany. Learn how plants played a very important role in his early life and later achievements. Students will follow in Dr. Carver’s steps, using plants to paint and to create a healing lotion to take home.

Storytime & Craft - Wednesday, February 20, 1 to 2:30pm - Free
Bring your little gardeners and nature lovers to QBG for a relaxing winter afternoon featuring nature-inspired stories, followed by a botanically-themed craft activity. Recommended for ages 10 and under.

I Heart Worms! - Thursday, February 21, 1 to 2:30pm - $10 per child
Did you know that worms have five pairs of hearts? This unique hands-on workshop introduces kids (ages 5+) to the life of red wiggler worms used for indoor composting. We’ll be helping you to set up your very own indoor compost bin during the workshop. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bugging Out! - Friday, February 22, 1 to 2:30pm - $10 per child
Bugs are all around us! Come explore the world of bugs by examining the parts of a squirmy earthworm, creating your own insect, and searching for bug homes in the Woodland.

TIP:

Spend the day at the Garden! Check out QBG's Art in the Garden exhibition, "Organic Emergence," at the Visitor & Administration Building Gallery. Free.
