Jamez Staples, a North Minneapolis resident, is an Urban Environmentalist who is passionate about closing racial disparities in Minnesota. He is President of Renewable Energy Partners (REP). A certified minority owned solar installation company, REP provides training programs – specifically targeting low income communities of color that are unemployed, underemployed, and hard to employ – in the development of green infrastructure.
Scott Randall is an Instructor for the Solar Energy Program at Century College, where he works to match student training with current industry labor market demands. Scott holds both an engineering degree and an electronics degree in process controls. He is a board member for the Minnesota Solar Energy and Industries Association and holds multiple NABCEP certifications.
Lisa Daniels, Executive Director and founder of Windustry, has been providing renewable energy education and technical assistance for more than 20 years. She has led Windustry in numerous contracts with the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Lisa has worked for more than 15 years as a partner with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory on WINDExchange and Wind Powering America initiatives. Her focus is on local solutions and community renewable energy.
Ralph Jacobson founded Innovative Power Systems in 1991, and spent the first 10-years building off-grid systems. His custom designs utilized a variety of storage and control schemes. In his 20-year service on the board of Minnesota Renewable Energy Society, Jacobson initiated the MN Solar Boat Regatta, the MN Solar Home Tour and solar energy classes. He served as the founding president of the MN Solar Energy Industry Association. He is engaged in business ventures for growing the solar market.
