FEBRUARY 2020 TECH SOCIAL - EARTHQUAKE!
Please join us for an Earthquake! tech social on Friday, October 12th at 6:30 pm in the Ellen Driscoll Auditorium at Havens. Piedmont resident Marco Scanu and Forell/Elsesser Principal will present at our next Tech Social. Forell is a leading structural engineering firm with a portfolio of many Bay Area projects including seismic retrofitting. Learn how we make buildings ready for the next Big One!
SPEAKER BIO
Marco began his career with Forell/Elsesser in 1992 and is a Principal with the firm. He excels at recognizing and proactively resolving project and design challenges, sophisticated analysis of complex structures, and translating these analyses into practical design solutions. He has a keen appreciation for the IPD process and BIM, and strives to integrate these industry advances into all of his projects.
Marco has also restored and upgraded some of the oldest and most iconic buildings in San Francisco including Old St. Mary’s Church in Chinatown and Saints Peter & Paul Church in North Beach. Additionally, his broad work experience includes major transportation and institutional projects. Marco is a licensed Structural Engineer in California and Washington. He has a Bachelor’s degree from MIT and a Master’s degree from Stanford University.
Growing up a few blocks from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, Marco has had a lifelong fascination with architecture and structures, and brings this passion for the built environment to all of his work at Forell/Elsesser.
WHEN AND WHERE TO GO
Date & Time: Friday, February 28th, 6:30-8:30PM
Location: Ellen Driscoll Auditorium, Havens Elementary
Cost: Early Bird Tickets through Wednesday, February 26th - $5/student, $10/adult includes pizza, milk and cookies - After October 10th, $10/student, $15/adult.
Note that students 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

7:00-7:30pm: A short talk by Marco Scanu
7:30-8:30pm: BYO activity, cookie break at 8:00pm
FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No, this is for all ages. This is not a drop-off event - please have an adult loosely associated with any attendee under the age of 13..
What is the meal going to be?
Dinner will be pizza from Lanesplitter, with water and milk also provided. If you want to bring your own water bottle, so much the better. There will be a cookie break after the presentation.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
As long as you pre-register before 3p the day of the event, there is no need. If you register later, please consider printing your ticket or having a copy on your phone.
What is the refund policy?
We understand that plans change, particularly with families! However, the majority of our costs are sunk immediately (facility and equipment rental), so while we are happy to refund your fee up to 24 hrs in advance of the event, please consider making it a donation instead.
