Mike Boykin is the Senior Vice President in charge of the Sports Marketing Division for GMR, an award-winning pioneer in interactive, face-to-face marketing. The firm draws on an energetic workforce to cover events from NASCAR races to the Olympics in London last year. People who work closely with Mike describe his leadership style as one that is “obsessed with teamwork and performance.” He has a unique equation for motivating the younger employees, and in his talk at Interact Studio, “Mentoring and Motivating the Younger Workforce,” he will share practical tips and insights to leading the younger members of Generation Y.
Background. GMR is headquartered in Milwaukee. For many years the agency focused exclusively on musical entertainment events until 1995, when Mike helped to establish the sports marketing arm of the company near the home of NASCAR. Today, GMR has 25 offices in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Recently GMR manned the on-site marketing and brand awareness for Proctor & Gamble at the Olympics in London. Mike’s background includes sports sales and marketing at ESPN Regional, Sports Sales at Host Communications and Director of Marketing and Sales at Supersports/Turnstyle.
