The Feast of Sekhment is an annual Kemetic celebration that honors the sekhem (power/powerful energy) of the Egyptian lion headed Goddess, Sekhmet. The daughter of Ra, was sent on a mission by her father to bring Maat (balance) back to Earth. In her pursuit to complete the mission, Sekhmet began to clear the mortal land of negativity, however became blood thristy and started to destroy, devour and disintegrate all in her sight. With the assistance of Djehuty, Ra created a mixture to subdue Sekhmet. The mixture allowed her to sleep for days.

In present day, we use this time and energy to eliminate those things within and around us that impede us from accessing our higher selves or consciousness. We use this celebration to honor the divine feminine energies, Het Heru (Love, Sensuality), Bast (Joy, Discernment) and Sekhmet (Power, Desire and Passion).
