Fearless Shrimp
Event Information
About this Event
Yes, you can cook shrimp perfectly. Packed with protein, fast-cooking and delicious, shrimp has a lot going for it. Yet most home cooks avoid it, worried they’ll end up with rubbery lumps for dinner. In fact, it’s very easy to cook shrimp well, and in this class we’ll show you two simple approaches that ensure you do so every time. As we make Chipotle Shrimp, we’ll demonstrate a two-step cooking technique—the one-sided sear, followed by a gentle simmer—that achieves perfect doneness and produces shrimp nicely coated in a bold, flavorful sauce. Then, you’ll learn how simple and effective it is to poach shrimp—using only residual heat—as we make a Thai-style Grapefruit Salad with Shrimp. Along the way, you’ll learn best practices about cooking with shrimp, including how to purchase, thaw, shell and devein. You’ll leave this class able to cook shrimp to succulent perfection every time and without fear.
