FDSDI is pleased to welcome Washington & Lee Prof. J.D. King to discuss ethical issues arising in the representation of mentally ill clients. J.D. King is a Clinical Professor of Law, the Director of the Criminal Justice Clinic, and the Director of Experiential Education at Washington and Lee School of Law. In addition to designing and supervising the Criminal Justice Clinic, J.D. teaches Criminal Procedure and Evidence. His scholarship focuses on indigent criminal defense systems and the right to counsel, as well as criminal defense and prosecution ethics.

FDSDI is also pleased to welcome Assistant Supervisor to the downtown felony unit of the San Diego County Public Defender Office, Monique Carter. Ms. Carter will be speaking on Opening Statements, she has been teaching for NITA since 2008. She was recently asked to be an “anchor” instructor by Doris Cheng, San Francisco’s 2019 President of the Bar Association of San Francisco. In addition, she is a Trial Advocacy adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law.

FDSDI is a state bar approved MCLE provider, no. 424. Specialty MCLE ethics credit in the amount of 1.5 hours will be provided. General MCLE credit in the amount of 1.5 hours will also be provided.
