Event description

Description

The FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association- Boston Chapter is coordinating an effort to support TSA with its Canine Decoy Program at Logan Airport. We are seeking up to six volunteers per day, for three consecutive days, to serve as "decoys" for the TSA's Canine Detection Team at Logan Airport.

***You only need to volunteer for ONE day. Participation is on a first-come first served basis and a stand-by list will be maintained. To ensure ample opportunity for all, duplicate registrations will be deleted.***

About the Opportunity: Separate from the State Police Canine Program, TSA canines actively work everyday in the airport beginning with passenger screening and continuing through the boarding areas. While TSA leverages relationships with partners often to identify individuals to serve as decoys, we are working with them to, for the first time, coordinate a group decoy.

How it will work: TSA will set everything up. They'll escort the group to all areas, provide a safety briefing and then equip all volunteers with the tools necessary to participate. It's then up to the trained canines :)

Time Commitment: Canines are best tested when the airport is busy and that usually means during the morning rush! Decoys will be asked to arrive in the very early morning hours (545AM) with the opportunity lasting an estimated 2.5 - 3 hours. Working with a group can be challenging so bear with us!

Parking: Decoys will be provided with parking free of charge at an pre-designated areas. Details will be provided no later than one week in advance.

Who can volunteer? Partnering with organizations like the FBI Citizens Academy makes sense. By virtue of the fact that you are a Citizens Academy Alum, you have been vetted and this permits TSA to provide access to their facilities. To that end, this opportunity is for active Alumni Association members only.

Questions? Kim Ainsworth Klaskin, Class of 2010, is working with TSA to execute the program. Contact kim.ainsworth@gsa.gov 617/565-6769 with questions.

We hope to see you there!
