What is Faith Based Equine Assisted Philosophy?
FBEAP is experiential learning that has its foundation in the Word of God, is lead by the Holy Spirit, and uses horse herd dynamics to teach us healthy, effective ways of living. Horses are still in touch with their God given natures of survival. They are always honest and always accurately respond to their surroundings; it is how the wild horses of North America thrive in a shrinking and hostile environment. In FBEAP, we learn, by watching the horses, by accurately, honestly, and attentively observing our environment, and then responding in the same way, to keep ourselves safe, healthy, and successful in all areas of life. Here's an example: If a big ball blows into the horse pasture on a windy day, the horses will pick up their head, run away in a semi circle to what they deem a safe distance, stop their feet, turn, and look at the ball. They will decide whether they think it is dangerous or not, (they downloaded information), and then approach or move away accordingly. If they decide it isn't dangerous, often two or three of the horses in a herd will approach the scary object, investigate it, probably snort and blow a little bit, put their nose on it, and then move past it and go back to grazing. If they deemed the scary thing dangerous, they would continue to move away. They always honor their instincts. We call this the re-circle. It's how horses remain safe and healthy in their environment. Jesus did the same thing. When He felt pressure, He would move away, go to the wilderness or mountainside, spent time alone and listening to His Father, (downloading information). When He had gotten the message from His Father, spent time resting in His presence, He would go back to the people and do and say what His Father had spoken to Him; for the reasons His Father’ desired. He would re-circle. The further into His ministry He got the more often He would re-circle. It's how He kept Himself sensitive to His Father’s heart for the people. Horses always move away from pressure and into pain. Jesus did the same. He moved away from pressure when the pharmacies wanted to stone Him, He moved away through the crowd) When it was appropriate, He moved into the pain (the moneychangers in the temple, the cross). The re-circle kept Jesus sensitive and obedient to the Father's heart, because He took time to hear His voice. Had He just reacted to every situation in which He felt pressure, the outcomes may have been very different. Re-circling allowed the perfect will of God to come to pass. The Re-circle keeps the horses safe because they take time to assess the situation and then act accordingly. This is a useful lesson for humans. Don't react. Move away from pressure. Take time to hear the Father in prayer before acting. Then obey. Honor our God given instincts/the nature of God. Horses do it. Jesus did it. We can survive/thrive by doing the same. In FBEAP we look at what Jesus did during His ministry so that He could complete the task He'd been sent to do, to bring salvation to a dying world, by His Father. It isn't a preaching platform. It isn't a theology. We don’t tell people what to believe. We help them find Truth. FBEAP is experiential learning with horses. It pays attention to what the people say and do, what the horses do, what the Word says, and is lead by the Holy Spirit. At Seminars we explore and discuss all of this thoroughly. We have lots of 'circle up' time after each exercise to ask questions and impart truths brought to light by the Holy Spirit.
It's real life lessons from the horse... layed on top of the lesson's Jesus taught while He was in ministry... that we can apply to our lives today.
