November 2015 Slow Food Indy Book Club
- Soho Cafe, Carmel IN
It's time for our annual Fathers Day Picnic! Bring your kids, bring your friends, and bring your Dads, it’s going to be a great day! This year we'll be visiting a diversified urban educational farm.
Distelrath Farms is a co-operative farm tucked inside the southeast corner of Indianapolis. Distelrath Farms is dedicated to growing excellent food and facilitating world-class reality based education.
We are very pleased that this year our host Andrew Distelrath will be smoking chicken that was pastured onsite at the farm!! We are asking for $10 each to cover the cost of the meat, Vegetarians are free!
To cut down on too many of the same side dishes, please bring a potluck item with the following guidelines in mind:
- Last Names A-H: Warm Side Dish
- Last Names I-P: Desert
- Last Names Q-Z: Salad
Please keep in mind that parking is limited, so if biking or carpooling is an option we encourage you to do so!
Other things to bring with you for an enjoyable day:
- Dishes & Utensils
- Chairs or Picnic Blankets to sit on
- Beverages of your choice (adult or otherwise). Water will be provided.
- Sunblock & all natural insect repellant, if you choose.
- Yard games (Frisbees, soccer balls, etc.)
Please join us for farm tours of the crops and animals, a potluck feast Slow Food style, and some great company! (And don’t forget to tell your dad you love him!)

We envision a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet.
Slow Food Indy celebrates the amazing bounty of food that is available, and is working to strengthen the connection between the food on our plates and the health of our planet.
