Event description

Description

Our 10th FAST 48 bootcamp in design for social impact is November 2-4, 2018

Join us for the FAST 48, a weekend bootcamp that teaches the basics of human-centered design via short cycles of individual and group learning with direct work in the community. The FAST 48 serves graduate students, staff, faculty, educators, and community organizations interested in learning design thinking for their own work or organization. We also welcome artists and local social entrepreneurs! We are excited to continue our fabulous partnership with PlayBuild New Orleans, a central-city based nonprofit promoting design education for ages 4-12 years, through imaginative play, and finding new uses for under-utilized urban spaces.

Why is it called the FAST 48? In a fast-paced, hands-on 48 hours spanning 6 PM on Friday to 6 PM on Sunday, you will

  • Learn the key mindsets and basic methods of human-centered design (HCD)/design thinking (DT)

  • Appreciate how design-thinking fits into your "social innovation toolkit".

  • Reflect on how to take it back to your program and workplace.

  • Learn how DT is helping generate social innovations for global health challenges, poverty alleviation, energy and environmental challenges around the world.

  • Join a network of people with common interests in applying creative, imaginative, iterative design approaches to generate fresh and relevant solutions to real problems here and around the world.

  • Enrich your resume with skills that get you recognized by employers looking for creative, entrepreneurial, solutions-seeking changemakers.
