You are warmly invited to attend our CaKE Break session in the Welcome Centre (room TBC) on Thursday 21st September at 2.30pm – approx 3.45pm (with room available for networking until 4.15.)

Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAAs) are strategic awards provided to institutions to support knowledge exchange (KE) and impact from their research. IAAs support innovative projects that can ‘accelerate impact’ from research, add value to existing funding, and/or take advantage of new or unforeseen opportunities with existing, potential or new partners.

LU holds two IAAs – one from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and another from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC). Funding is typically distributed via internal competitions, but awards can also be made in between calls if highly strategic and of a time-limited nature (responsive mode). The only call currently ‘live’ is a joint call across both EPSRC and AHRC where we require teams to comprise of researchers across arts and humanities and engineering and physical sciences, and for the proposed activity to be interdisciplinary in nature.

The session will provide a brief overview of the IAA programme at LU and go into further detail about the expectations and criteria around the current ‘joint call’. We will hear from the IAA Project Manager (Jamie Hodge) as well as past recipient of IAA funding (Michael Stead). Our intention is that this will help you to consider whether you should apply to the current IAA call or start planning and positioning projects for subsequent IAA calls.
