About this Event

Fashionable Spirits: Whisky As a Muse for Creating Art, with Linh Do image

Please Join Director of Culture, Dr. Jessica Spector, as she welcomes special guest, artist Linh Do, for a discussion of how she “create[s] art inspired by spirits and libations.” The focus of the event will be Ms. Do’s recent work with Japanese spirits.

Artist Linh Do, known to many by her alter egos Cookie Do and whiskyanorak, and through her website ForeshotsAndSaints, is a unique voice in the spirits world. Using whisky as a muse, Ms. Do creates art that is at-once high-end and at the same time utterly accessible. In this special event, Ms. Do will show some of her latest work and will discuss how her couture creations are connected to the world of whisky. Attendees will learn how inspiration ranging from Coco Chanel to Alexander McQueen to Hello Kitty has led to distillery collaborations and bottle label designs, and what fashion has to do with spirits.

Ms. Do’s experience as an independent artist provides insight into art and commerce in the liquor industry. Her work hangs in many distilleries, including Highland Park and Glenfiddich, and she currently just completed the second of her limited edition labels for Fukano whisky of Japan.
