Biography of SHAKIRA JACKSON:
"My name is Shakira Jackson. I am 21 years old. I’ve lived in New York all of my life and attended Fashion Industries High School where my passion for fashion erupted. Growing up I was a performer; I wanted to be a ballerina. When I transferred from a dance major to a fashion design major my life turned around completely. I started looking through a different light. I started sewing because it was something I enjoyed as a hobby until people started to notice the talent that I didn’t even realize I had at the time. What inspired me to start designing and actually constructing my designs was simply the people around, their spirits. The fact that I had the power to make someone feel great about their selves amazed me, I loved the feeling. I love making my visions come to life weather it was a dress or a pair of harem pants. I always seen things in stores and would fell that “I like it but I would change…”Peoples personalities inspire me to create! I don’t really have a favorite designer; I love all designers and respect their creativity. My journey has just begun and I cannot wait to see what my future holds with my community."
