Event description

Description

Join us for a day filled with farm fresh produce, inventive cocktails, chef–prepared food, and local beverage producers.

On Monday, June 3rd, we are getting 30 bartenders together on a bus and heading up to Profound Microfarms in Lucas, just 40 minutes north of Dallas. After a short motorcoach ride (and plenty of Community Brewing beer) we will embark on a guided tour/tasting and bartending experience at the farm.

Have you ever sampled the seriously sour leaves of Sorrel? Or experienced the minty anise aroma and instantly refreshing taste of the Agastache Flower? Can you balance the unique bitterness of Parcel? How many different varieties of Mint have you tried (we have 8 growing now)? What about Basil — such as Genovese, Lemon, Lime, Opal, or Mexican? Profound Microfarms grows over 150 varieties of leafy greens, culinary herbs, microgreens, edible flowers, and oddities on just over 2 acres!

Don’t miss out on a chance to see what ‘greenhouse-to-glass’ bartending can really mean, stretch your creativity, meet new friends, and have an amazing time at the farm.

Schedule

  • 11a - Arrive at Petra and the Beast with lunch provided. https://www.petraandthebeast.com/

  • 12p - Board Motorcoach and depart from Petra for Profound Microfarms. Aboard the bus you’ll hear from local hospitality educator Seth Brammer about the growing demand for local and honest products in the DFW bar scene, and Farmer Jeff Bednar about how they started the farm, and are using sustainable growing practices to change the face of food in Dallas.

  • 1p - Arrive at Profound Microfarms. We’ll split into two groups, one group will head into the Indoor “Growlab” with Seth and the other group will head out for a Greenhouse Tour. Of course, craft cocktails will be included.

  • 1:45p - Chef Josh Sutcliff will serve small plates of food prepared from local farms, and talk about how using local products has transformed both his cooking and philosophy.

  • 2:45p - The second part of the tour will start with the groups swapping Growlab for Greenhouse tours.

  • 3:30p - the motorcoach will depart Profound Microfarms and head back to Dallas (Petra and the Beast). While sipping on some Community Beer you’ll hear from our Sponsors - Greenhouse Gin, Devils River Whiskey and reflect on the bounty of a great day…

Greenhouse Gin - A Dallas based spirit. Greenhouse Gin is a curious elixir – subtly spicy, earthy and refreshing all at once. Soft Juniper Berries dance with Cardamom, Coriander and Sicilian Bergamot to form a complex, full-bodied base. A mix of lemon, lime, and orange balance the gin. A dash of açai berry offers a touch of sweetness, as fresh cucumber balances the light citrus with crisp a fresh finish. Greenhousegin.com

Devil’s River Whiskey - That’s what makes Devils River Whiskey the decorated, smooth small batch whiskey you enjoy today. Legendary Texas Ranger John Coffee Hays named this powerful waterway the ‘Devils River’ in 1840, and from his ingenuity, our namesake was born. The naturally-filtered limestone spring water is considered the purest water in Texas. The iron-free, sweet spring water is ideal for crafting an unrivaled Sinfully Smooth Whiskey. Its purity unmasks all the delightful nuances we worked tirelessly to emphasize in every sip. Here’s to living a life that’s never short of extraordinary. Devils River Whiskey.
