Farmer's Market Poetry Benefit Soirée
Saturday, January 25, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PST)
A unique gallery event featuring more than 70 original sonnets by farmer's market sonneteer David Griswold. Come enjoy a glass of wine and seasonal hors d'ouevres, and help us vote on your favorite sonnets written at the market this past year. A "selected edition" of sonnets will be published based on votes received over the course of the evening.
Donations will be welcome at the door, and there will be original sonnet books available, as well as a silent auction for individual sonnets. All proceeds raised will go to benefit the Berkeley Ecology Center.
Wine and cheese will be available through the evening, and hors d'oeuvres will be served between 6 and 8pm.
When & Where
David Griswold, Eugene Ashton-Gonzalez and Christina Sachs
For the past year, David Griswold has been writing sonnets on demand based on themes provided by shoppers at farmers' markets in Berkeley, Oakland and around the Bay Area. He and his good friends are organizing this evening as a way to give back to the Berkeley Ecology Center that puts on many of the markets in the area, and as a way to collaborate with friends and family to produce a selected edition of sonnets from across the past year.
