Farmers Market Fresh Cooking Classes
Classes will be held the second weekend of the month in June, July and August and will feature fresh, seasonal produce from Springfield’s Old Capitol Farmers Market. Limit of 10 students per class so please register early. For kids cooking classes, parents may drop off or stay in Copper Pot’s waiting room while kids enjoy their cooking class.
1 hour cooking classes, kids age 3-5 - $12 (includes all supplies and snack)
1.5 hour cooking class, kids age 6-12 - $20 (includes all supplies and light meal)
2 hour cooking class, Adults, $30 (includes light meal and/or take home food)
June 11th
Strawberry Delights!
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m
Taste fresh strawberries and kids will create their very own strawberry treats including strawberry fool and strawberry smoothies.
Kids age 3-5
Strawberries Two Ways
3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Taste fresh strawberries and make both a sweet and savory strawberry dish. Class will make strawberry shortcake and spinach salad with strawberries and vinaigrette dressing.
Kids age 6-12
June 12th
CSA Cooking Class
1-3 p.m.
Are you a member of a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) or someone interested in joining one? (Read more about CSAs here) In this class you will utilize the contents of a typical CSA box to make a delicious seasonal meal.

July 9th
Sweet and Savory Crepes
2-3 p.m.
Kids will make both sweet and savory crepes featuring seasonal fruits and vegetable fresh from the farmers market.
Kids age 3-5
Snacks from Around the World
3:30-5 p.m.
Kids will make 3 different snack foods with recipes inspired from three different countries.
Kids age 6-12
July 10th
Quick Pickling
1 - 3 p.m.
Make refrigerator pickles and other quick pickles using fresh, seasonal produce without the hassle of canning. Each participant will get to take home 2 different types of pickles.
Adults
August 13th
Campfire Classic
2-3 p.m.
Enjoy a campfire class of “hobo meal” with local, seasonal veggies wrapped in tin foil.
Kids age 3-5
Market Tacos
3:30 - 5 p.m.
Who doesn’t love tacos!? Tacos using fresh, seasonal veggies are even better!
Kids age 6-12
August 14th
Tomatoes 3 Ways
1-3 p.m.
Utilize the bounty of summer and prepare tomatoes three different ways. This class will make a fresh tomato salsa, tikka masala and pasta sauce that participants will get to take home!
