Description

Join us for a free farmer-to-farmer tour of Say Hay Farms in Esparto, CA.

Say Hay Farms is a 50-acre farm in Yolo County that specializes in raising certified-organic vegetables and pastured eggs in an integrated system.

Founded in 2010 with just 2.5 acres and 100 hens, Say Hay Farms now grows a diversity of crops year-round on 45 acres of certified organic fields. They rotate vegetable crops, pastured hens, and cover crops, and grow 4 acres of almonds and an acre of oranges. Say Hay Farms products can be found at farmers’ markets, retailers, and through their CSA that serves the Sacramento Valley and San Francisco Bay Area.

This tour is open to farmers and aspiring farmers. Chris Hay (Say Hay Farms) will discuss whole farm planning and Rex Dufour (NCAT) and will discuss natural pest management.

Please register if you plan to attend.

We have a limited number of travel scholarships available to help those with limited funds or who are driving from far away. If you'd like to apply for a travel scholarship, you can do so here.

This tour is part of a series of farmer-to-farmer tours facilliated by The Farmers Guild, UC SAREP / UC ANR, Community Alliance with Family Farmers, the School of Adaptive Agriculture, and the Farmer Veteran Coalition. These tours will take place all across Northern California and are open to any farmers or aspiring farmers who would like to learn more about growing specialty crops, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, flowers, and herbs. Funding for these tours was provided by the California Department of Agriculture's Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.
